- The Norwegian Kyudo
Federation now has an English web page! I received the new URL
from Mr. Michael Sautter, President of the Norges Kyudo Forbund (Norwegian
Kyudo Federation) and I want to thank him for his efforts to bring more
kyudo information to English readers. The first page is a picture, click
on the picture and you're taken to the English web page.
- The Texas Kyudo
Renmei webpage! The Texas Kyudo Renmei is alive and still
doing demos. Here is their web page!
- Centre de la Falaise VerteMr.
Jyoji Frey, a long time kyudo archer and an ordained monk in the Rinzai
Zen school, has posted this web page in French detailing the Chado, Zen
and Kyudo classes at his center in France. Be sure to visit all
the class pages to see various views of the large and beautiful wooden
building which serves as zendo and kyudo dojo. This building certainly has
to rank as one of the most elegant kyudo structures outside of Japan.
- The
Asian Traditional Archery Research Network web page is live!
Mr. Stephen Selby lives in Hong Kong and
is actively researching the history of Chinese Archery for his upcomming
book. Be sure to check out his reprints of articles from Instinctive
Archer magazine!
- The London Kyudo Society web
page. This is a private dojo on school grounds in London. Although not mentioned by name,
Liam O'Brien, Kyoshi, 7th dan, is the instructor and the mailto: tag on
the page will send email to his internet account. This is a good way to
reach O'Brien sensei who is the current president of the European Kyudo
Federation. I believe that O'Brien sensei is also the chief instructor at
the Brookes school dojo which also has a web page.
The Brookes web page has some nice pictures of their gym dojo and equipment
like a makiwara and its stand. Those interested in setting up a makiwara
dojo or gym dojo should get some nice ideas from their pictures.
is the official home page of the German Kyudo Federation and their links
page:
http://home.t-online.de/home/stefan.sb.bertram/k-links.htm
should be the first place for someone to look for up to date web page links
for the official web pages of the countries making up the European Kyudo
Federation.
Johannes Ibel has written this very nice English web page as an
introduction to the many German language web pages, dojo addresses and so
on. If you need information about the German Kyudo Federation in English
this is the perfect place to start.
- The Chozen-ji
Betsuin/International Zen Dojo of Wisconsin homepage is live!
Anyone interested in the Chozen-ji style of Zen Archery as taught under
the supervision of noted Kyudo author and teacher Dr. Kenneth Kushner,is
highly encouraged to check out this web page.
- The
Meishin Kyudojo. Home page of Dan DeProspero, the man who
literally wrote the book (in English) on kyudo. This is the host home page
and there are links to Dan's Meishin Kyudojo, the American Kyudo Renmei
web page (of which Mr. DeProspero is the current president), and also to
the Asahi Kyudo Equipment Company webpage.
- The Omuta
Kyudojo. For those of you who remember Saita sensei, the chief
instructor at the 1996 American Kyudo Seminar in San
Jose, California, here are
pictures of his dojo in Fukuoka
Prefecture. This is
a rare treat, a Japanese kyudo web page with an English version. Email Kura sensei, the web master, and tell him how much
you appreciate it. I did!
- Kyudo
Animation! Side by side animated comparison between the Insai-ha,
a traditional Heki school, and an archer performing the modern shomen
style of uchiokoshi developed from the Honda ryu. The page may take a
while to download but is a great way to see the difference between the
shamen and shomen uchiokoshi styles. This page must have taken a lot of
work to make and my hat is off to the crew that put it together.
- My experience of Kyudo
in Japan. A personal story of starting kyudo at Tsukuba University
in Japan.
